Greener Driving
At Pass Driving School, we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact we have on the environment whilst driving around in our car.
We do this by:
-
choosing to use a car with low carbon emissions (96g/km CO2) and a high real world mpg (over 50mpg whilst learners are driving).
-
Selecting tyres that have the least rolling resistance and can travel the furthest without needing to be changed (minimising microplastics entering the environment).
-
Making sure all used tyres and waste liquids get recycled at the end of their useful working lives.
Offsetting Our Carbon Emissions

We also commit to planting a tree a day, everyday for the foreseeable future. We do this through Treeapp
Treeapp also allows us to plant extra trees at a cost of £1 per tree, starting at a minimum of 5 trees. For more information about the Treeapp and how their support helps to reforest areas in desperate need of protection and support rewilding projects to protect endangered animals, it can be found on their website here.

During an average lesson driving, 3kg of CO2* will be emitted over a 2 hour period.

On average a fully grown, 10 year old tree, would absorb around 22kg of CO2 per year. Saplings would absorb around 6kg of CO2 per year**.
So for every 5 Saplings would offset 10 two hour lessons.

If you would like to offset your carbon emissions whilst learning to drive, you can let your driving instructor know and pay the relevant amount directly to them. You will then receive a certificate by email showing the number of trees that have planted on your behalf and where they will be grown.

*3kg of CO2 per lesson assumes a lesson is 2 hours long, covering a distance of around 20 miles using the formula of 96g / km = 154.5g / mile
